Airport transfers must
be pre-booked. Most of the tour operators offer transfer facilities at
reasonable prices. Also most accommodations can arrange to have a
transfer waiting for you. If you do not wish to pre-book, a taxi to Apia costs around WS$50.

A passenger and vehicle ferry service operates between Upolu and Savaii.

The Lady Naomi ferry operates between Upolu and American Samoa once a week.
Manono Island Boats
The boats to Manono Island do not operate to a set timetable, but can be arranged on site at Manono-uta at the western end of Upolu Island, down the road from the Mulifanua Wharf. If you wish to take a charter ferry, you will need to pay $25 one-way. If not, you can wait for other passengers and pay $2.
Driving
It is the law that
your licence is endorsed by the Transport Control Board (TCB) prior to
collecting your rental vehicle. Some rental car agencies can now
validate your license. Contact the TCB on 26 740 for details. Rental car
company offices are located in Apia and at the international airport. You may ask the car rentals for assistance regarding validation of your driver’s license.
Cycles and mountain bikes are available for hire from several beach resorts and hotels, and from Autopro Rentals in Apia, phone (685) 30 770, fax (685) 29 556. Cycles, motor-scooters and jet skis can now be rented from Apia Jet Ski & Scooter Rentals, phone (685) 29 444.
Petrol Stations
Refer to your Jasons free Samoa Visitor Map (order below) for locations. Fill up in town before driving to remote areas.
Taxis
Taxis charge a minimum
of WS$2.50. A copy of the taxi fare rates can be obtained from the
Transport Control Board. Always ask for the taxi fare to a certain place
before you start your journey.
Buses

The bus service on Upolu provides inexpensive transport for the locals, and an experience to remember for visitors.

All buses are named with their destination so ask the driver which bus you need to catch. In Apia, the bus terminals are located next to the food market in Fugalei and also opposite the flea market at Savalalo.

Please verify schedules with the bus drivers before leaving Apia and Salelologa.
